Mourad Merzouki, an emblematic figure in hip-hop dance, looks back on 20 years of creation through the lens of dance scholar Agathe Dumont. A creator and traveller without borders, the choreographer has developed since the 1990s a hybrid hip-hop language, borrowing elements from the circus, contemporary dance and martial arts. What does the trajectory of the Käfig company tell us about the unique evolution of the French hip-hop movement, from its popular successes to its conquest of the stage ?
