    La Grande Inversion est un roman policier médiéval dont l'action se situe avant et après 1066. Mais ici, contre toute attente, Guillaume le Bâtard est défait à Hastings et ne devient pas le Conquérant de la légende et de l'histoire. Face à cette situation des plus insolites, Svenn, le jeune héros du roman, tente de comprendre les raisons de cet échec historique tandis que l'on mène, parallèlement, une enquête sur une série de crimes commis dans la paisible petite cité de Coutances, en Normandie.
